In late December "The Spiritual Fitness Center" was host to "Amma" a lady from India that is said to have great power or to be the incarnation of the goddess. She came with an entourage that acted as if they had been trained by the secret service. They inspected the place that is always immaculate and had the centers employee cleaning toilets and vacuuming carpets. She only walked on red carpet and "Regular People" aren't allowed to talk to her or touch her. Allot of it, like not touching or talking to her is understandable because no one wanted the woman to be mobbed and maybe injured by people that perceive themselves in more need then others. What I noticed most was the arrogance many of her followers showed. They looked down on anyone who wasn't there to meet "Amma" as if they didn't get the concept. They were rude in their interactions to the point of being mean spirited.
I respect everyone's right to believe what they want wether it makes sense to me or not and "Amma" was a very loving, spiritual and enlightened person. But she is human.
The truth is if you are reading this You are probably human too. A human, not better or less then any other. What is it in the human psyche that makes us want pay homage to another human being.I don't mean admiration or respect. I mean knee bending, hand kissing I can't live with out your approval kind of Homage.
Wether you pay Homage or expect it. The need to gain self worth through or at the expense of others is a example of an out of control ego.
I believe it is that behavior that has brought us to the point, that we are basically a drone society. Many of our people base all their decisions on what some one else tells them is the truth. We are caught in traditions and behaviors that although worked great when they were implemented are out dated now. We have seen countless examples of this in just the past fifty years. sandal in all areas that we used to revere like Police,Clergy,Teachers and of course politicians. When our process was first implemented the candidate spoke his mind and we made our decisions based on that Now this process has us electing people that pay other people to tell them what we want to hear the way we want to hear it. We don't really know the actual beliefs or intentions of the person we are electing.
Respecting someone is great but in my humble opinion, if you will kneel to the power of another person you will probably expect someone to kneel for you. We are all here together doing what we have to do to walk the path we have to walk. No one is better or deserves reverence from anyone.
Our abilities evolve because of the demands of our path not the level of our being.
